A “shadowban” occurs when TikTok automatically restricts a creator’s content from appearing on the For You Page (FYP), hashtag searches, and sound pages without giving an explicit account suspension notice. While TikTok doesn’t officially use the term shadowban, their algorithmic trust score system deprioritizes accounts that trigger safety filters, post unoriginal content, or use copyrighted sounds.
